  1. Living God’s Dream means that on Judgment Day we will be able to say, “I have finished the work you have called me to do.” This means we don’t live to earn titles, but rather to leave behind testimonies.

  2. Observations on listening to God about my God-sized mission:

  3. 1. God speaks to anyone. • God Speaks to anyone. • Samuel was an apprentice. • Mary was a virgin teenager. • Billy Hybels was a little boy.

  4. Meanwhile, the boy Samuel served the Lord by assisting Eli. Now in those days messages from the Lord were very rare, and visions were quite uncommon. 1 Samuel 1:1 (NLT)

  5. Oh, give me Samuel’s ear, An open ear, O Lord, Alive and quick to hear Each whisper of Thy Word; Like him to answer to Thy call, And to obey Thee first of all.

  6. 2. I can miss God’s voice. • Samuel was inexperienced & immature. • Spiritual development & biblical knowledge are helpful in growing to hear God’s voice.

  7. Then the Lord called out again, “Samuel!” Again Samuel got up and went to Eli. “Here I am. Did you call me?” “I didn’t call you, my son,” Eli said. “Go back to bed.”Samuel did not yet know the Lord because he had never had a message from the Lord before. 1 Samuel 1:7 (NLT)

  8. 3. I need help. • Seek a Mentor. • “Find someone who’s got what you want and ask them tohelp you.”

  9. So the Lord called a third time, and once more Samuel got up and went to Eli. “Here I am. Did you call me?” Then Eli realized it was the Lord who was calling the boy. So he said to Samuel, “Go and lie down again, and if someone calls again, say, ‘Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.’”

  10. So Samuel went back to bed. And the Lord came and called as before, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel replied, “Speak, your servant is listening.” 1 Samuel 1:8-10 (NLT)

  11. Are you listening to God? • Do you hear His whisper? • What is God saying? • How are you responding?
