  3. Math – Miss Austin • Goal 1: Number and Operations (20-25%) • Goal 2: Measurement (10-15 %) • Goal 3: Geometry (25-30%) • Goal 4: Data Analysis and Probability (10-15%) • Goal 5: Algebra (20-25%)

  4. Math EOG • 82 multiple-choice questions • Calculator Active (54 questions) • Calculator Inactive (28 questions) • Our goal is for all students to score a Level III or a Level IV. • We want all students to show growth from 4th grade.

  5. Reading – Mrs. Lanier • Goal 1: Reading strategies such as vocabulary and fluency (5-10%) • Goal 2: Comprehension (58-62%) • Goal 3: Connections (30-35%)

  6. Reading EOG • 58 multiple-choice items • 8 reading selections with 6-9 questions for each selection • 2 fiction, 1 nonfiction, 1 poem, 1 consumer, 2 content, 1 experimental • Our goal is for all students to score a Level III or a Level IV. • Students need to show growth from the end of 4th grade.

  7. Science – Mrs. Podair • Goal 1: Ecosystems (25-30%) • Goal 2: Landforms (20-25%) • Goal 3: Weather (20-25%) • Goal 4: Forces/Motion (25-30%)

  8. Science EOG • 80 multiple-choice questions • Our goal is for all students to score a Level III or a Level IV. • This is the first year that your child has been given a Science End of Grade Test.

  9. Homework • Nightly Reading Log (20 minutes), parents write title of book, pages read, and initial in the Central Planner M-Th • M, Tu, Th Homework (Wed. only Log) • 10% of entire grade

  10. Tests/Classwork • Count as 90% of grade • Grade Scale 100-93 A, 92-85 B, 84-77 C, 76-70 D. 69 or lower F

  11. Communication • Weekly newsletter on Mondays • Progress reports at mid-point of the nine weeks • Report cards every nine weeks • Notes in planner • Email individual teacher • Phone calls, notes home

  12. Behavior • Respect yourself • Respect others • Respect the school. Blue – Warning 1 Green – Warning 2 Yellow – Note/phone call/silent lunch Red – Visit to the principal’s office

  13. Rewards • Students with good behavior will be rewarded! • At the end of the week, every child that has not made it to yellow will receive a pick from the weekly prize box. • Special treats and incentives
