  2. Understanding geo-specific telecommunication issues. Practicing good habits for teleconferencing communication. Employing multi-modal communication (email to supplement voice, etc.). Language & Communication Tools

  3. Becoming knowledgeable about other cultures. Understanding ramifications of cultural differences on work practices. Incorporating a range of culturally-based work practices, depending on the needs of the team/project/task. Intercultural Knowledge & Experience

  4. Understanding logistical difficulties of cross-geo teamwork (time, distance, communication). Using Intel BKMs and external research for effective virtual teamwork. Emphasizing role and importance of trust. Remote Management & Teamwork Skills

  5. Understanding the need to implement global procedures and methodologies that account for variation in local work practices. Implementing decision-making procedures, sharing ownership, and/or giving leadership role for project tasks as appropriate, and communicating these in an effective manner. Global Decision-Making

  6. Team Building & Communication • Prioritizing one-on-one communication in addition to group communication (e.g., group meetings and forums). • Creating effective, culturally appropriate and consistent communication practices within the team.

  7. Global Work/Life Effectiveness • Understanding "share the pain" and balancing impact of meeting dates, times and deadlines on each geo, with goal to eliminate the pain whenever feasible.

  8. Change/Adaptive Ability in CGT Work • Integrating Intel culture business practices (Constructive Confrontation, Disagree & Commit, etc.) with local cultural values, creating a “Third Way” (combining both cultures) to increase team effectiveness. • Continually learning about impact of own cultural views and processes and valuing the ability to change and adapt.

  9. Global Relationship Building • Understanding the importance of relationships for long-term team effectiveness, forming one-on-one relationships. • Seeking out opportunities for face-to-face contact despite challenges (rotations vs. visits, etc.). • Understanding the need for exhibiting respect and building trust with cross-geo partners.

  10. Leveraging Team Diversity • Understanding the benefit of different perspectives, approaches to problem-solving, and culturally-based work practices. • Applying knowledge of local practices to build innovation in product and work practices.

  11. Understanding Local Conditions & Impacts on Global Marketplace • Understanding local conditions across geo–social, political, economic. • Seeking out information on the legal and ethical aspects of doing business in different geos.
