TI-Nspire Technology In this lesson you will: • Get an overview of the TI-Nspire product-family, the Student and the Teacher software, solutions for classroom management as the TI-Nspire Navigator Teacher software and the TI-Nspire Computer Link software, including also some accessories. What is TI-Nspire Technology? The documents you create with TI-Nspire Technology can be exchanged between PC, a Mac or a handheld. Seamlessly continue work from the handheld on a computer platform. • It is a software for PC or Mac with the same functionalities as the TI-Nspire handheld, but with the benefits of a larger screen and a computer keyboard. • The software is available in two versions: TI-Nspire and TI-Nspire CAS. • At retail the Student software comes bundled with a handheld. 9 | Lesson A.1

Is the same software as the student software, also available in two versions, TI-Nspire and TI-Nspire CAS, but comes with extra features: TI-Nspire Teacher software • For presentation: Built-in TI-SmartView™ Emulator - The emulator's features integrate well with interactive whiteboards and digital projectors. • For Assessment: Question Application - This feature allows you to create questions and assess the students. • For Classroom management: you can exchange documents in an easy way and manage a class set of handhelds. • For organizing your content: you have a Content Workspace to search for and filter content. • Docking Station to charge batteries or exchange files between class sets and the teacher computer. 10 | Lesson A.1

  16. Data Collection – tools Data collection tools from TI and Vernier Software & Technology can be used with TI-Nspire and TI-Nspire CAS Technology. Several sensors from Vernier can be connected via the EasyLink™ to the built-in USB port of the handheld to collect data during science experiments.   18. Press-to-Test: The TI-Nspire handhelds are permitted for testing and accepted at several exams. The built-in Press-to-Test mode temporarily blocks access to all personal data and .tns documents and certain features that can be not allowed during testing.   20. Lua Scripting Lua scripting is offered as part of TI-Nspire software and operating system (version 3.2). The capability to author and play Lua scripts within a TI-Nspire document is especially important for the creation of science simulations on the TI-Nspire platform. Adding Lua scripting to the TI-Nspire platform is a first step toward a long- planned programming environment that supports math and science curricula. 20 | Lesson A.1

It runs on a handheld, a PC or a Mac. • There a two types of TI-Nspire Technology software: TI-Nspire and TI-Nspire CAS. • There are three types of handhelds: the Clickpad, the Touchpad and the CX-handhelds. • There are three types of computer software: the Student software, the Teacher software and TI-Navigator Teacher software. • TI-Nspire TI-Navigator Teacher software creates a wireless network environment, that increases the students’ engagement in class, makes it easy to send documents and assess the students’ progress. • If you don't have TI-Nspire computer software, you'll need to download TI-Nspire Computer Link Software in order to connect the handheld to the PC and make screen captures or update the OS. 21 | Lesson A.1
