  2. What is it? • Argyria is the permanent staining of the skin to a bluish-grey color. • It is the result from prolonged contact/consumption of silver salts. This contact stains the skin and mucous membrane.

SIGNS OF ARGYRIA: • Gastrointestinal catarrh • Tissue wasting • Uremia • Hemorrhage • Idiopathic thrombocytopenia • Fluidity of the blood • Chronic bronchitis • Loss of coordination • Decreased night vision • Worst: exposure to silver compounds can cause fatty degeneration of the major organs.
