  4. 2016-2017 PRIORITIES • Broadening the engagement of partners in the region: • Revitalizing the regional IAWG list serve • Form a regional steering committee • Identify a national focal points

Main achievements in 2015 • Development of National Readiness Action Plans based on the MISP readiness assessment tool developed in 2014 • 4th IAWG Forum 14-16 October 2016 – focus on Refugee crisis • Capacity building session – CMR and GBV • Collection and sharing of IEC material in the region • First thinking – Establishment of a regional Pool of Experts

Plans for 2016 • Establish a regional roster of SRH Experts in Emergency • Update the national Readiness Action Plans • Finalize the ToR of a national SRH Working group • Train the country teams on ‘MISP advocacy strategy, communication in emergency’ (during 5th Forum) • Explore opportunities to sustain the EECA IAWG

Vision & Mission Vision: An active regional network of professionals built on expertise and good practice, working to strengthen effective humanitarian and development outcomes in East and Central Africa. Mission: Our work challenges our members and others to improve the overall humanitarian and development system in East and Central Africa region. • Strategic goals Voice and Action, Professionalization, Networking and collaboration • Sub working groups: • Humanitarian Human Resources • Humanitarian learning & Partnership • Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change • Policy & Advocacy, • Quality & Accountability • HIV Mainstreaming • Information Communications Technology • Regional security advisors forum

HIV mainstreaming in 2015 • Revitalize the working since it was dormant • 3 meetings last year • Develop a draft action plan • But did not agreed on thematic and self identity • Plan to move ahead and regional INGO based in Nairobi are all invited to join us • New shorter term action was developed yesterday.

From IPPF perspective • Joint Plan with UNFPA West and Central Office • Supporting countries by providing resources and Technical support to implement country coordinated action plan • Ethiopia: IMC and ARRA • DRC: UNFPA, ABEF, UNHCR (conducting a workshop with staff from Universities in Kinshasa), Working Group in Goma • Kenya: Red Cross, MoH, UHHCR • Niger: IPPF member association, MDM, MoH • Our support to Somalia, have involved few staff from Arab world in our training on SRH coordination (Yemen, Syria, Jordan, Morocco,,,)

Regional IAWGs Meeting: Feedback • 21 participants from 12 organizations (UN, NGOs, Donor) • Sharing ideas on inter-agency cooperation (advantages, challenges) • Each regions: definition of objectives and design of action plan for the next 3 to 12 months • Not all the regions are at the same stage of inter-agency cooperation • Commitment and resources are at stake • What is expected from the global IAWG: • resources to support the coordination aspect • advocacy at global level to ensure commitment of regional offices
