  1. Troubleshooting Exchange Performance Has Got to Be Easier!

  2. Exchange Server Performance Troubleshooting Analyzer What? • A tool that collects and analyzes performance data to facilitate Exchange Performance troubleshooting. • Why? • Exchange troubleshooting is too hard and takes too long (high percentage of long running Critsits). • Who? • Developed by Exchange Product Group team that developed ExBPA. • When? • Web Release: Q4 2005

  3. The basics -Run the Wizard from any server with .Net 1.1 installed (must have network access to the server) • Specify an Exchange server name. (The Beta will not troubleshoot anything except an Exchange server) • You must specify the AD server name for the Beta. • Must have sufficient credentials to gather data from perfmon, WMI, and query Exchange container data on the AD server

  4. The less-basic • An XML file is generated in %ApplicationData%\Microsoft\ExPTA • You can view past results (same as with ExBPA) • The details view has lots of extra info; organization may change

  5. Exchange Performance Troubleshooting Analyzer

  6. More troubleshooting steps to come Many content improvements to the tool are already planned. These include: • MAPI support (querying folder counts, restriction ages etc) • More checks for restriction abuse • Pinpointing users causing excessive server load • Etc etc etc…

  7. Q&A
