  1. Big Nate By Ari Feldberg

  2. Characters The main characters in this book are: • Nate who gets in trouble everywhere. • Gina is a girl who is not nice to Nate. • Teddy is one of Nate’s best friends. • Francis is Nate’s other best friend. • Mr. Galvin and Mrs. Godfrey are both mean teachers. • His Dad and his sister Ellen are also in this story

  3. Setting • This story takes place in his house and at school. • The whole story takes place in one day.

  4. Conflict/Solution • Nate’s friend Teddy gave him fortune cookie. It said “Today you will surpass others.“ Nate wanted it to come true. • He surpassed others by getting most detention slips in his school history. Some of the things he did to get detention were opening up the display case when he wasn’t allowed to, gave his pen to a teacher to put in his pocket and then it leaked on his shirt, and he ripped his math test after fighting with a teacher over it.

  5. Plot Details • Nate woke up and had breakfast and went to school. • He writes an excuse note because he thinks that he has a test. He ends up not having a test so he never needed the note. • Nate’s friend Teddy gave him fortune cookie. It said “Today you will surpass others.“ • A few hours later, he has lunch and tries to set a world record of most green beans eaten in ten minutes. The principal finds him doing it and stops him so he barfs up the food. The principal gives him a detention slip. • Nate decides this is how he will surpasses others… by getting most detention slips in his school history.
