  3. What are Wind Turbines used for? Wind turbines are used to generate electricity from the kinetic power of the wind.

  4. Low Persistent Noise • Wind Turbines make an ongoing noise • The noise comes from the blades when they push the air out from under them. • There have been a large number of complaints about the ongoing low levels of noise • Farmers and other people living near the wind turbines complain about the noise.

  5. LossofScenery • Wind turbines are usually over 200 meters tall • This blocks the view of the land. • Owners of houses that lose their “view” also complain about the loss in property values.

  6. Land usage • They use large amounts of land if they are not properly planned and built • They also require roads to access them • The roads take up more of the land.

  7. Intermittent Nature • Wind turbines only produce energy when the wind blows • To turn the propellers, the wind must be forceful.

  8. Not suitable for all areas • Parts of the turbine can interfere with radars • This causes a potential hazard for planes, helicopters, and other air transportation. • They also interfere with television and radio waves • birds often fly into the rotors

  9. All in all, wind turbines seem to have negative impacts on the land and people surrounding them.
