Timeline of Events • 5/24: Seasonal WNV DCHHS press conference • 6/5: 1st confirmed +mosquito pool, from 5/30; Health Advisory issued • 6/20: 1st confirmed human report (57yo WNND); 2nd WNV press conference held • 7/9: Total 10 WNV cases • 7/13: 1st report death; 3rd press conference • 7/19: 2nd death reported; 4th press conference • 7/23: Total 36 WNV cases • 7/25: Total 64 cases; 2nd WNV Health Advisory • 8/2: Total 115 cases; 3rd WNV Health Advisory

DCHHS Summary of Human Cases (as of 5 pm 8/6/12) • 130 total cases: • 93WNND (72%) + 37 WNF (28%) • WNND: 69% >50 yrs age; 68% male • 92% hospitalized; 7 deaths • 46% of WNND hospitalizations--ICU admissions • 60% White, 26% Hispanic, 6% Black, 3% Asian, 5% Unknown • WNF: 61% >50 yrs age; 42% male • 23% hospitalized • 80% of all WNV cases reside in northern half of Dallas County
