  6. Putting Your Team Together • Share your vision for the ensuing year • Ask for assistance • Be excited • Positive Mental Attitude • State expectations • Support/Stand by your officers

  7. Committees • Each Lodge may have specific needs • Billboard/Sign Committee • Seven are required by the Digest (Chapter 24.05, Section 10.01) • Finance, Vigilance, Petitions, Masonic Education, Board of Relief, Charity and Lodge Property

Setting the Officers to Work with Proper Instruction • Prompting During a Degree • Sitting Master should choose at beginning of degree • District Instructor, if present should be asked • Master’s Duties during a degree • The Officer sitting in the East is in charge during the Degree • If possible, pre-fill stations to give Brethren time to review their parts • If a visiting Brother is to have a part in the Degree, ensure he is proficient for that part

Setting the Officers to Work with Proper Instruction 2 • Advancement Night • Your Officers should be trained for the next seat well ahead of installation night • Every Brother eligible to vote can hold an office • A normal line of progression ensures the Brothers have the maximum experience needed to fulfill the duties of Worshipful Master • Every Officer has the potential of serving his Lodge as Worshipful Master.

  10. Trestle Board • Communications are vital to a successful Lodge. It may be the only contact Brothers have with the Lodges • The trestle board projects the Lodge’s image to its members and non-members alike • It’s now your Trestle Board for the year • Does it look and say what you want it to • Is it readable and well laid out (pictures, articles, etc.)

Trestle Board, cont • Plan and time your articles early • Historical events (National & Masonic) • Allied & Appendant Bodies (Spring & Fall festivals, etc.) • Masonic Education & Youth Organizations • Local news and Grand Lodge library articles (request permission to reprint or quote) • Can start collecting ideas early while in appointed seats

  12. Trestle Board, cont • Worshipful Master must write his own words • Ideas • Annual Plan for first article • Future important events, so the Brethren can plan • Recognition of Masons and Masonic Youth • Masonic Education • Time based events (Independence Day, voting day, etc.)
