  5. CA Worker’s Comp/Liability • When/Where can you self dispatch • Only during disaster or drill/exercise and in your own neighborhood. • When would you go to Fire Station or other Disaster Area - Only when requested. Allan D Handforth

Worker’s Comp/Liability • CA Worker’s Comp coverage • Only if a list is kept (Name, time on/off). • Only when activated by official agency. • Training/Drills/Exercises only when registered by sponsoring agency (may be their agency/union’s Worker’s Comp). • FORM 1 – Blank paper – timed & dated. Worker’s Comp/Liability • POV (Personally Owned Vehicle) • Unwise to use unless specifically asked by Official Agency – Document!!! • Example uses asked: • 4x4 Truck (Hauling/Med Transport). • SUV (Transport). • YOU assume liability to and from assignment/staging on your insurance. • IF POV is asked – register at Staging/Supply. Summary • Being registered as DSW is a useful trade for Free Training • Know your limits – work in pairs • Worker’s Comp and Liability Insurance coverage is typical Grey Area Issue • Use of POV should be with caution • All points in this presentation are my point of view – research to see if you agree Allan D Handforth
