RES-H Policies in provinces • RES-H for residential appliances is in the responsibility of the nine provinces: • Specific RES-H investment subsidies.Support levels and technology requirement are different in each province for each RES-H technology. • Integration of RES-H in the support of residential building construction • Programs for training and awareness • Dynamic development quite different in each province

Federal RES-H Policies • Promotion of renewables (and energy efficiency) in industry and agriculture (Kommunalkredit Austria), in particular medium and large scale (e.g. biomass district heating). • 2008: additional investment subsidy for small scale biomass heating from “climate and energy fund” • Programs for training and awareness raising (e.g. solarwärme, holzwärme within klima.aktiv) • Research and technology development: energy systems of tomorrow, new energy 2020, … • Biomass CHP: requirement of 60% total efficiency • (Income tax measures are implemented but don’t have any real impact.)

Suggestions for Austrian advisory board members • We have a LOI of the following institutions: • Federal Ministry of agriculture, forestry, environment and water management, department of environmental economics and energy (Wolfgang Jank) • Energieinstitut Vorarlberg (Adi Groß) • LandesEnergieVerein Steiermark (Gerhard Ulz) • Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, Umbrella Organization “Energy-Climate”
