Technologies used • Province-wide optical infrastructure • Based on 1400+ km of BCNET / Canarie, Bell owned managed dark fiber. • Nortel DWDM / ROADM equipment • 72 wavelengths at 50Ghz spacing • 10 Gb/s per wavelength, • Potential growth to 40Gbs, 100Gbs per lambda April 2008 BCNET 2008 Advanced Networks Conference

Some numbers oran network • The network spans around 1400KM from Seattle to Calgary. • 72x10Gb/s = 720gb/s = 90Giga Byte/sec (19) • 72x40Gb/s = 2.88Tb/s = 360Giga Byte/sec (76) • 72x100Gb/s = 7.2Tb/s = 900Giga Byte/sec (191) • Equivalent of (19 or 76 or 191) DVD downloads per second from Calgary to Seattle! • Ready for the future!
