  3. What is a hobbit? • A short person, about the height of half a man. A hobbit, a small, beardless creature with hairy feet.

  4. Summary of The Hobbit • Bilbo, a hobbit, is sent with a group of thirteen dwarves to recover the treasure that was stolen by the evil dragon Smaug. In the story, Bilbo saves the dwarves from many dangers, succeeding each time only because of mere luck. Bilbo also finds The One Ring when he wears the he becomes invisible.

Science behind the hobbit chapter 8 flies and spiders . • When Bilbo and the dwarves spot the boat it was floating, • The science behind it is that there is air in the boat , the average space creates a low specific gravity which causes the flotation. • They used iron hooks to pull the the boat towards them. • The science behind it is that they used force to pull the boat towards them.

  8. Summary of the chapter 8 flies and spiders • Bilbo and the Dwarves begin their journey through Mirkwood. Eventually they come across an enchanted stream, and Bilbo spots a boat on the other side; using rope and a hook they pull the boat to their side and use it to cross the stream. Bomber falls into the stream and the Dwarves pull him out to find that he has fallen into an enchanted sleep; Dwarves take turns carrying him. Soon the Dwarves send Bilbo up a tree to see how far the forest goes, Bomber wakes from his sleep, and later on, they see groups of wood-elves eating a great feast. Spiders capture twelve of the Dwarves,

  9. Summary of the chapter 8 flies and spiders While Thorin is captured by the Elves. Bilbo is almost eaten by a spider but wakes in time and kills it; he then names his sword Sting, and heads out to rescue the Dwarves from the spiders. With the aid of the ring, Bilbo frees the dwarves, though he and the others soon realize that Thorin is not among them. Meanwhile, Thorin is questioned by the Elven king Thranduil, and, when he refuses to disclose his reasons for being in Thranduil's forest, he is thrown into a dungeon
