  3. INIS http://www.iaea.org/inis • Brief History – Began in 1969 Under International Atomic Energy Agency 110 countries, 19 Intl. Organizations today Focus on peaceful uses of nuclear energy • OSTI is the U.S. Delegate Provides U.S. Input Influences policy and technical direction • Secretariat in Vienna, Austria INIS Co-operates with ETDE Provides INISDB

ETDE Recent Initiatives • DOE sites should now have IP access; adding Universities • ETDEWEB Developments – Information back to 1974 • Developing Country Access started in April • Full text and DOI/CrossRef advances • IEA Clean Coal Centre & Climate Change Current members: Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States Will likely be losing Italy, gaining Portugal

INIS Recent Initiatives • DOE sites can request IP access to INISDB; adding Universities • Working with large international publishers • Working on computer aided indexing/taxonomies • Full text availability improvements and scanning historical Information from microfiche • Knowledge Management • OSTI can often help get copies of newer docs until new access ready

The Collection • ETDEWEB Database: 3.4 million bibliographic citations, including subject indexing and abstracts for most (in English) • Almost 2 million of these from international sources • Records linked to full text for ~106,000 (25,000 international) • Thousands more have a link to full text stored elsewhere • INISDB: Over 2.2 million bibliographic citations • Public and DOE/ECD also contains international NSA records
