  4. create a society email address • You will need to create an email address for your society. • You can use it to have a means of people getting in contact with your society rather than individual members. • You want to have a record of the account password and details for future committees.   5. design your societies logo • Your society will need branding. By creating a logo you can start achieving this. • The logo needs to be specific to your society. • Try keep your logo simple and to the point. You want a logo that is easily recognisable as your society. Contents Page

  6. create social media accounts • You will need to create social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and any others you deem suitable. • You want to use these accounts as a means of advertising your society. In addition you can use it as a means of running your society day to day, such as having a Facebook group of members. • Remember record the details of all accounts for future committees.   7. set up SU website page Once you are logged into the SU website you can access administrative privileges. By clicking on the cog in the top right hand of your screen you will be taken to a drop down list where you can select your society. Contents Page

  8. set up SU website page Your society name should appear underneath Organisations by clicking the option you will enter your admin section. Contents Page

  9. set up SU website page This page will now appear which only committee members have access to. You can click the ‘Edit Details’ icon at the bottom left of your screen which will allow you to edit details of your society on your SU website page. Contents Page

  11. set up SU website page You can add details of your email address, web address, Twitter username, Facebook URL, Instagram username and a listing description. These will embed on your page people who access your webpage can click links to get access to your social media pages. Contents Page

  12. set up SU website page This final section is where you can add a description of your society that will appear as text on your webpage. Details we expect you add to this section are details of what your society plans to achieve, planned events and details of committee members and explanation of what is included with purchasing membership.   15. booking space • To book any space you will need to fill out a room booking request on the SU website. • You will also need to fill out a risk assessment for your planned booking and send the risk assessment to union.info@uea.ac.uk • This link here takes you to the webpage where you can find all details on booking rooms on campus.   16. events and activities • You want to run events for your members such as socials, fundraisers and Do Something Different events. • You can follow this link here which has loads more useful information on running an event. Contents Page

  17. finances • Your society can not run without good finances and as you are a new society your budget starts at £0. • Memberships will gain you money, you can also consider holding a fundraiser for your society or finding a sponsor. • You can find more information about finance by following this link here. • To get more information about applying for society grants by following this link here.   18. eXpense365 app guide • eXpense 365 will become a vital part of your clubs finances. We advise that you have a look at the guide provided by following this link here where there is a option under general committee called ”How to use the eXpense365 app” which will show you how to use the app correctly. • We strongly advise all committee members to go through the guide.   19. promotion • A vital part of your society running is promotion you can follow this link here where you can gain more information on promoting your society. • Also consider using your social media accounts frequently and effectively such that viewers know about what your society is up to and help people gain interest in becoming a member of your society.
