  3. Agricultural statistics in general, including the construction of the main balance sheet products, is centralized at the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova. The Bureau is guided by the Law on Official Statistics № 412 from 09. 12. 2004 and other legislative acts and conducts its work in accordance with the Program of statistical and editorial work, approved annually by the Government.

Balances of agriculturalproducers: Including farmers of all categories, separated into:- Farms and peasant (farmer) farms with land area of more than 10 hectares - Farm population and the peasant (farmer) farms with land area of less than 10 hectares Used for the calculations: - the production accounts in the SNA (definition of gross output of agriculture) - food consumption per capita

  6. Balance sheet items include : - product inventories at the beginning and end of the year in storage at agricultural producers; - produced agricultural products; - products purchased in retail; - rate of production of seeds and eggs for incubation; - loss of product during its storage; - consumption of products for animal feed; - products, processed for non-food purposes; - products used for personal consumption; - products sold to procurement and processing enterprises .

  7. Level detection in consumption of basic food products • Average per capita consumption food (kilograms per year) = Consumption Fund / Average annual population

  8. Sources of information to establish balance : • Data forms of continuous statistical surveys on agriculture (reports on the production of crop and livestock production, reports on procurement of agricultural products by procurement organizations the data specialized forms of annual financial statements of agricultural enterprises) • Data sample surveys of small farmers and peasant farms with land area of less than 10 hectares and private households  • Statistical data on retail sales; • Data on industrial statistics • Data sample surveys of household budgets • Expert calculations and estimates

  9. Goals and Objectives : Development of methodology for the balance of resources and their use in accordance with the methodology and recommendations of the FAO and expanding the list of products for which a balance sheet is prepared; Reviewing and improving existing forms of statistical reports and the introduction of new statistical surveys in order to obtain additional information for compiling the balance of resources; Development (acquisition) of the program (software), which would facilitate and accelerate the preparation of balance sheets; Use of the Nomenclature, developed on the basis of the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System EU, as well as conversion factors of refined products in a fresh look.

  10. Problems: • Limited human resources do not allow to carry out work on the budget calculations on a wide range of products (90-100) • Necessity of introduction significant changes in the existing system of statistical reporting and sampling with limited financial and human resources • The absence of national-level contemporary conversion of livestock and poultry from live weight to slaughter.
