  7. Syllabus Course Description This class will prepare you for what you need to know to be a financially responsible adult. This course will cover: Earning Money, Paying Taxes, Banking, Budgeting, Insurance, Credit, Debt, and Investing Objective: Today you will be introduced to Personal Finance
  8. Syllabus Classroom Rules Be in your seat and ready to begin work when the tardy bell rings. Come to class prepared to work daily. Bring all materials needed (Spiral notebook, Binder, Pen/Pencil) NO eating or drinking in the classroom Objective: Today you will be introduced to Personal Finance
  9. Syllabus Classroom Rules ALWAYS show respect to others! Clean up your area before leaving. Chairs should stay in front of the computer. No internet use w/o permission No e-mail or chat allowed No games or use of unauthorized programs Objective: Today you will be introduced to Personal Finance
  10. Syllabus Attendance/Tardies You are responsible for making up your work within three (3) school days. You must ask for the assignments for days when you are absent and make arrangements for making up work before or after class. Work not made up within 3 days will be given a “0”.   11. Syllabus Cheating NO Tolerance! First offense: Earns a “0” for the entire assignment Referral to the Office You are required to report to me after school that day for a parental contact. Objective: Today you will be introduced to Personal Finance
  12. Entering the Classroom Enter calmly and quietly GermX – a good idea for everybody Get your needed supplies and have a seat. If you are tardy… Enter quietlyand take out your journal or begin working with everyone else. Tardies policy will follow the student handbook.
  13. Syllabus Daily Procedure: Make sure you have all of your materials You will not be allowed to go to your locker once class starts When you walk into the room, begin responding in your journal. (5-10 minutes) If you were absent, be sure you follow the absence procedures the day you get back to class. Objective: Today you will be introduced to Personal Finance
  14. Syllabus Needed Supplies Spiral Notebook 3-Ring Binder Pencil or Pen (Blue or Black ink ONLY) Objective: Today you will be introduced to Personal Finance
  15. Other Procedures Scheduled Checkout Notify me as you enter the classroom When you need to leave, quietly raise your hand to notify me. Quietly pack your things and leave
  16. Other Procedures Restroom Passes Have me sign your pass 6 passes per semester Tardy excusals ALWAYS sign out when you leave the room for any reason.
  17. Other Procedures Moving around the room… You do not need permission to: Sharpen your pencil, Use anything in the student center Blow your nose If I am talking, please wait until I am done Please do these activities quietly and discreetly.
  18. Other Procedures Classroom Discussions… Please Participate I want to hear what you have to say! Make sure it is relevant to the current discussion If your question is off topic, write it down and ask later
  19. Other Procedures Class Dismissal The TEACHER dismisses you, not the BELL. Put away everything – calculators, notebook, etc. Push in your chair DO NOT stand by the door!!!
  20. Other Procedures Special Guests Substitute Teachers, Guest Speakers, etc. ALWAYS be on your BEST behavior

  22. Student Expectations Be On Time Be ready to start when class begins. If you are not in your seat, you are tardy. Be Prepared Have needed stuff for class, and know due dates! Turn in your work on time and always do your best. Be a Problem Solver Correct problems quickly before they escalate.
  23. My Pledge to You… I will trust you until you give me a reason not to. I will respect you and work with you to solve problems. I will quickly correct and offer feedback on your work within 2 class periods. I will work with you to help you meet your goals. I will offer extra help if you need it.
