  1. The Energy Technology Partnership Dr Simon Puttock Executive Director, ETP KT Scotland Conference, 2010

  2. Energy Research Pooling and KE • Scotland: Energy Resources and Industry • Energy Technology Partnership (ETP) • Knowledge Exchange - examples • Summary

  3. Scotland: Energy Resources and Industry • Large energy resource, conventional and renewable; • Priority industry with ca. 2500 companies (oil/gas, >2000; power generation & utilities, 200-250; renewables, 150-200); • Gross Value Added to the Scottish economy is some £18 billion, one of the highest of all industry sectors; • More that 100,000 energy jobs with potential for 60,000 additional ‘green jobs’; • Strong KE track record but potential for much more.

  4. The Energy Technology Partnership is..... An alliance of Scottish Universities, engaged in world class energy related Research, Development and Demonstration (RD&D) 250 academics + 600 researchers = Scale + Substance Largest, most broad based power and energy research partnership in Europe

  5. Technology Focus Areas • Wind energy • Marine energy • Bio-energy • Solar energy • Energy materials • Power systems and networks • Built environment / DSM • Energy conversion and storage • Oil and gas • Carbon capture and storage

  6. Strategic Objectives - strong focus on knowledge exchange • Capacity Building • Relationship Building • Internationalisation • Economic Impact "Deepening and broadening existing relationships and partnerships to promote increased collaboration." "Promoting the expertise and capabilities within the ETP, to develop new strategic relationships with industry, academia and others." "Projecting the scale and expertise of the ETP on the international stage in order to promote new outreach and knowledge exchange opportunities." "Connecting the work of the ETP with Scottish Policy and economic development opportunities for Scotland."
