  2. First personal computer invented • The first personal computer was invented in 1971 was called the Ken-back1. • It was creator of the personal computer the Altair 8800, Ed Roberts, which came up with the term personal computer to describe the personal usage.

  3. Debug • It’s an old term that has just stuck around. • The story is told of people who were working on one of the early computers. • The computer suddenly stopped working and everyone started going over every component individually.

  4. When internet started • The development of what we now call the Internet started in 1957 when the Soviet Union launched Sputnik 1. • Mention the History of the Internet to a group of people, and chances are someone will make a snarky comment about Al Gore claiming to have invented it.

  5. Babbage’s Analytical Engine • Is much more than a calculator and marks the progression from the mechanized arithmetic of calculation to fully-fledge general-purpose computation.

  6. Herman Hollerith tabulating machine • In 1881, Herman Hollerith began designing a machine to tabulate census data more efficiently than by traditional hand methods. • The U.S. Census Bureau had taken eight years to complete the 1880 census, and it was feared that the 1890 census would take even longer

  7. ENIAC • Was designed to calculate artillery firing table for the United States Army’s Ballistic Research Laboratory but its first use was in calculations for the hydrogen bomb. • A bank of blinking lights indicate the mysterious processes going on within.

  8. Program • Is a sequence of instructions written to perform a specified task for a computer.
