National documents focused on protection from domestic violence2004. – 2010. • National strategy for protection from domestic violence,for the period from 2005 to 2007 • Action protocol in case of domestic violence • National strategy for protection from domestic violence, for the period from 2008 to 2010

  3. 2009. 5 shelters in the areas of Zagreb, Istarska, Brodsko-posavska and Karlovac county 1.595.030,00 HRK were insured 2010. 10 shelters and counseling institutions in the Istarska, Zagreb, Brodsko-posavska, Karlovac, Vukovarsko-srijemska, Splitsko-dalmatinska, Sisačko-moslavačka, Bjelovarsko-bilogorska and Primorsko-goranska county 2.529.827,67 HRK were insured Support from the Ministry of Family, Veterans Affairs and Inetrgenerational solidarity to shelters and counseling institutions for women and children victims of domestic violence, which are governed by civil society institutions( Implementation of area IV ‘’Shelters and support to the victims of domestic violence’’ national strategy for protection from domestic violence, for the period from 2008 to 2010)

New national strategy for protection from doemstic violence for the period from 2011 to 2016 • Areas: • Domestic violence prevention • Interinstitutional cooperation improvement, • Education of experts responsible for the domestic violence protection, • Psyschosocial treatment of domestic violence crime perpetrators, • Legal framework for the domestic violence protection area, • Treatment and support to the victims of domestic violence and • Raising of national awareness for the problem of domestic violence.

  5. Campaign for elimination of violence against women • Celebrating important dates ( 8. March- International Women’s day, 15 May- International Family’s day, 22 September – National day for the elimination of violence against women, 25 November- International day for the elimination of violence against women); • Presentation of the Handbook with guidelines for media reporting about the domestic violence issues; • Holding the international seminar on ‘’Active inclusion of men and boys in the fight against domestic violence“;

Campaign for elimination of violence against women • Wreath laying ceremony in the County court building on 22 September; • Introduction of the special post stamp with the recognisable campaign logo; • Implementation of tender ‘’City and county in the fight against domestic violence on women’’ ( City of Karlovac and Vukovarko-srijemska counties were chosen as the most successful ones)

  7. Program of preventive actions for the elimination of violence against women and the fight against domestic violence Campaign “Live a life without violence” (8. – 24. November); • All the activities were promoted by the media, • Organisation of a public discussion, • Lectures for students and parents were held, • Debates were organised, • TV commercials were shown. Mentioned activities were implemented by the family centers in the cooperation with police stations

Cooperation between the Ministry of Family, Veterans Affairs and Intergenerational Solidarity, United Nations Development Programme and the Society for Psychological Assistance Projects that are being conducted in partnership are: - “ Efficiency and Cost of Social Reaction to Domestic Violence ” and • “ Monitoring and Evalaution of services for family violence – shelter users” - For which the Ministry has insured 250,000.00 HRK in the year of 2010
