Introduction

Introduction

  • Scintillator is a material which emits light(scintillations) when an ionization radiation falls on it.

  • Plastic scintillator are used.

  • PMT(Photo Multiplier Tube)- A device which converts light into electric current.

  • Light guides are used to carry light from scintillator to PMT

  • Discriminator – An electronic circuit which converts analog signal to a digital pulse.

  • Delay: One of the pulse is delayed to decrease time jitter in the coincidence pulse.

  • The threshold for both the reference paddle is set to -25 mV and the test paddle is set as -20 mV

  • Our paddles have the area 10cm*10cm.

As shown in the figure above, in order to calculate the efficiency, we consider the hits in x strips-0 1 2 3 4 and y strips-0 1 2 3 4
