  1. Importance of DNA Paternity Testing In Child-Support and Custody Claims In the old age, paternity claims relied mostly on common law and reasonable expectations. The advent of scientific evidence is a product of modernization. As expected, the acceptance of scientific evidence such as DNA testing in the society has caused old legal methods to recoil. Backed up by genetic science, DNA testing is the new lie detector. It is important to establish your relationship with a child before expressing parental rights. Most plaintiffs in such cases consider DNA paternity testing to be tiring and unnecessary. When couples go through a separation or divorce, the child suffers most. However, popular opinion believes that both parents are responsible for nurturing and supporting the child. Thus, a separation does not mean that either parent stops providing quality care and attention to the child. However, some people do not buy the idea of supporting a child that is not theirs. Thus, DNA testing is one of the ways to ascertain the paternity of the child. In the world today, there are thousands of fathers who have been duped into providing unjustified financial and emotional support for another child. This act of fraud is the reason many parents are resorting to DNA tests especially if there are slightly unsure about the paternity of the child. A simple DNA home test is capable of exposing fraudulent claims and preventing you from spending fortunes on another man’s child. More than that, you will be at ease that you are not guilty of holding someone else’s child in custody against their will. You cannot imagine how this will aid your financial, mental, and social balance. Legal support is the most important reason for undertaking a paternity test. The time limit of paternity issues varies from one state to another. Across Canada, the implementation is legal protection is on the increase. In a nutshell, Canada is gradually integrating the rights to DNA paternity testing in the legal context.

  2. When You Need Paternity Testing The need arises when there is doubt about the paternity of a child and when maternal support is required; as expressed by the mother. If a child and the father have a strong relationship, such father may also contest the right to be the custodial parent of the child. DNA testing does not only restore peace of mind, it also enforces certainty. The reasons for DNA testing, thus, include: Protection of parental rights Addition of father’s name to the child’s birth certificate Fostering father and child relationship Improving access to medical information of the family If you are constantly worried about your child especially if they exhibit some traits that are not hereditary from both parents’, it is time to try the DNA paternity test. By so doing, you are one step away from a lifetime of grief or relief. Nevertheless, seek the counsel of an attorney before taking the next step.
