SOLAR ENERGY

CONOR DURDOCK AND CHRIS PIZZOLA

Pros of using Solar Power

  • The first benefit of solar energy is that it is 100% renewable, completely free, and unlimited.

  • Solar energy is also very beneficial to the environment because it does not produce greenhouse gases or pollution

Disadvantages of using Solar energy

  • - The materials and equipment needed to create the solar energy is highly costly.

  • - The demand is low in most countries making the price really high.

Source of solar energy

  • The energy emitted from the suns core.

  • When the rays leave the sun and penetrate the PV cells (Photovoltaic) they find the energy in the light and directly converts it to electrical energy.

Additional Information

  • Solar energy has existed ever since things could be warmed by solar rays.

  • Leonardo da Vinci made the first sketches of a welding tool powered directly by the focus of direct sunlight.

  • In 1767 someone directed the sun rays enough to create an oven hot enough to safely cook food.
