The Olmecs planted many different crops such as, maize, beans, squash, and other crops.


Animals

The Olmecs hunted animals such as, deer, wild pigs, and jaguars. They also fished in the rivers.


Intercropping
Intercropping

Intercropping is planting different crops together. The Olmecs used intercropping because they had a small amount of fertile soil, so intercropping made it so they could plant more crops in a small amount of space.


Traded resources
Traded Resources

The Olmecs traded for different resources. Some resources they traded for was rubber and obsidian. Obsidian is a volcanic glass that they used for cutting.
