  2. Introduction Our grade is going to have a bake sale and our class has been asked to prepare some homemade cookies along with a budget of how much it will cost to make the cookies and how much we should sell them for. You will need to plan and prepare several different kinds of cookies for this bake sale. To do this, you are going on a Webquest. Since we have been learning about measurement conversions, this is the perfect job for our class. The proceeds will go toward the cost of our 6th grade trip to Washington, D.C.

  3. Task On this Webquest, you will work in groups of four. Each group will choose two kinds of cookies to research (No two groups can choose the same type of cookie). You will research some websites to find recipes and other websites to help you with converting measurements. The planning committee asked that we make three dozen of each kind of cookie.

  4. Process • You will be put into groups of four and assigned group numbers. • You will choose two kinds of cookies from the COOKIE LIST. Each group will have different kinds. • Research on the Web and find one recipe each for the cookies you chose (see websites in the Resource Section) • Check pricing of ingredients needed to figure out how much it will cost to make the cookies. We want to make a profit! Hint: To figure this out, you need to find out how much you need to buy of each ingredient so that you have enough to make the cookies. I have provided a PRICE CHART for you. • Complete CHART 1 so you know how much to buy and how much it will cost. (See Resource section for helpful math websites) • Decide how the cookies should be sold and for what cost (how many sold together, etc.). Complete CHART 2 to show what your profit will be.

  7. Conclusion Congratulations! You have learned how to search for specific information using the Internet, including recipe and math websites. This Webquest provided you with the tools you needed, and required you to make important decisions. Those decisions and your hard work resulted in a profit to go toward your sixth grade trip. You worked hard converting measurements and using all websites provided!
