What’s New for CAASPP 2014? • Terminology change • STAR is renamed to CAASPP • California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress • Includes online (SBAC) and paper tests (CST,CMA, CAPA, EAP) • Most paper testing has been eliminated with the exception of the following: • CST/CMA Science • CAPA • EAP • New Security Agreement and Affidavit • Accommodations and Modifications will now be Universal Tools, Designated Supports, and Accommodations

  9. Heightened Security Security is #1 Responsibility • No unauthorized electronic devicesused in classroom during testing. This includes the test examiner/proctors. • For testing purposes, any electronicdevice that is not specifically designatedas an accommodation or modificationin the student’s IEP or 504 Plan is unauthorized. Heightened Security State and District security audits are done • At randomly selected schools and district offices • Before, during, or after testing • Are materials secure, accounted for, and locked up when not in use? • Are correct administrative procedures being followed? For example: • Instructional materials have been removed or covered. • Students are not being coached through the exams. • Only appropriate Universal Tools, Designated Supports, and Accommodation are being provided. • Room signs and testing posters with reminder of no unauthorized electronic devices are being used.

Testing Envelopes • Manila testing envelopes to collect and store electronic devices during testing Proctors • If possible, get a trained proctor in every classroom and have them thereat all times to help actively monitor test security. • Utilize hallway proctors (1 proctor per 3 rooms minimum). Actively supervise students throughout the testing session.

  16. STEP 1: Report Shortages to District Coordinator. Inventory all test materials against the school packing list immediately after receipt from the district . Report any shortages, overages, or the receipt of the wrong material to the CAASPP District Coordinator within two working days of receipt of the shipment at the testing site. STEP 2: Retain ALL Boxes and Store materials in a SECURE LOCATION Keep all test materials in the boxes they were delivered in. The boxes will be used to return materials to the district after testing. STEP 3: Read Through Materials Review the District and Test Site Coordinator Manual and Directions for Administration (DFA) in their entirety. STEP 4: Prepare and Secure Materials Secure materials in a locked storage area. Prepare inventory control sheet for checking materials in/out to examiners. STEP 5: Train Test Examiners and Proctors Ensure that test examiners and proctors understand the security requirements for keeping all test materials in a secure location prior to, during, and after testing. Obtain Signature on all Security Forms and return to District Coordinator during check in.   29. EAP – Grade 11 Who takes the EAP? Grade 11 only • CST for ELA and EAP Essay – ALL students • CST for Algebra II or Summative High School Math • Students who meet Algebra II or Summative Math requirements • To receive an EAP Status students must take the entire test • CST ELA + 15 EAP questions + EAP Essay • CST Algebra II or Summative HS Math + 15 EAP questions • Student Report will not have CST scores, only the EAP section in back of report will be complete

  32. CA Alternate Performance Assessment • Who takes the CAPA? • Students with significant cognitive disabilities unable to take the CSTs even with Universal Tools, Designated Supports, and Accommodations • Student must have an IEP which specifies CAPA test and level

Role and Responsibility of the Site Coordinator • Establish a time/date/place for testing. • Plan testing schedule in collaboration with SBAC Instructional Technology Teacher Leader and announce test dates to school staff. • Monitor test administration. • Keep test materials secure at all times. • Limit access to tests to pupils and employees directly involved in testing. • Do NOT copy test questions for any purposes – i.e. enlargement. • Do NOT allow students to use cell phone or other electronic devices during testing. • Establish a time/date/place for training. • Collect NEW signed Affidavit forms from test examiners & proctors during training. • Do not distribute tests to anyone who does not have a signed Affidavit. • Manage test booklets and answer documents. • Fill out all required information fields accurately. • Count and pack all scorables and nonscorables accurately.

Coordinator Responsibilities - Before Testing • Inform Examiners they CANNOT: • Review test questions before, during or after testing (this includes): • Advising students’ of wrong answer or checking an answer. • Withholding answer documents until students demonstrate they have the correct answer.

Coordinator Responsibilities - Before Testing • Train Examiners to monitor students to ensure: • Are on correct part of exam. • Are not going on to other parts of the exam or back to previous section. • Are not skipping a question on their answer document. • Not using unauthorized electronic devices during the testing session.

  38. Coordinator Responsibilities – During Testing Distribute and collect materials from test examiners each day of testing. Maintain security at all times. Monitor test administration. Handle defective test booklets and answer documents. Report incidents or irregularities immediately to the District CAASPP Coordinator via testing@ousd.k12.ca.us. Be sure to use the correct form. Manage emergency situations.

Coordinator Responsibilities – During Testing During Testing • Use Directions for Administration (DFAs) correctly. • Read ALL “SAY” boxes exactly as written. • Be sure to read and complete“First Day of Testing” section with students. • ONLY translate boxes with “T” (NO CST/CMA questions, prompts, or passages may be translated).

Testing Irregularities Need Permission to Report Call 1st • Examples of an Irregularity are: • Coaching students. • Leaving informational materials on walls in testing rooms. • Reviewing any test questions and providing instruction related to questions prior to test administration. • Examples of Incidents: • Administration errors. • Student cheating. • Not following school/district testing schedule.

Coordinator Responsibilities – After Testing • Collect & review all answer documents and test booklets. • Coordinate the counting of booklets and answer documents to verify each examiner returned all testing materials. Use testing rosters/class lists to verify have all documents. • Prepare documents for Check-In at the warehouse on assigned day and time: • EAP Essay – March 5 • CST/CMA/EAP/ CAPA – May 19, 20, or 21.

  42. Coordinator Responsibilities – After Testing • Complete Paperwork • Fill in the back of answer documents. • Transcribe voided answer documents. Place voided documents in the non-scorable box. • Complete SGID. • Complete Master file. • Pack scorables and nonscorables. • Attach correct shipping labels. • Be on time for Check-In • Late returns are considered a security breach. • Late returned scorables may incur a processing fee.

  46. Answer Documents: Transcribe • Make sure to transcribe any: • Braille and large print answer documents • If not transcribed braille and large print will not be processed • In Section A3, mark either “G” or “H”

Pack and Return: SGID School and Grade ID Sheet • Complete the SGID when bundling answer documents for scoring. • Place original of each completed form on the appropriate group of answer documents. • Info entered on SGID takes precedence over what was submitted for Pre-ID for the school. • Required to produce score reports.
