  3. Location • Freshwater Wetlands are found all over the world because they are freshwater sources like ponds, marshes, and bogs.

  4. Physical Characteristics • Salinity- less than 1% in order to support plant life • Temperature- ranges year-round from 0 to 22 degrees C., but is always warmest at the top of the water. • Depth- generally shallower than lakes, can range from puddles to hectares • Water flow- wetlands are standing water so there is no water flow

  5. Base of the food web • Wetlands support a wide variety of plant and animal life. • Lilies, cattails, Cyprus, and gum are some plant species that grow there and make up the base of the food web.

  6. Animal life • Some animals that are supported by the freshwater wetlands ecosystem are amphibians, birds, reptiles, and other furry animals.

  7. Interesting Information • Freshwater Wetlands have an extremely high diversity of plant and animal life. • They are a transition between aquatic and terrestrial biomes, making them a large sink and exporting materials.
