  2. 1The history of Mobile Communications in China • In Guangzhou on November 21 1987, a young man called Xu Feng, became the first mobile phones user in China.

  3. The China mobile users increaseexplosively after GSM had been introduced from Europe in 1990s.

  4. China is the world’s largest mobile market by subscribers. About 45.6% of the population own mobile phones now.

  5. 2 China Main companies for Mobile Communications • China Mobile is the world’s largest mobile phone company by number of subscribers.

  6. As the second largest mobile telecommunication network operator, China Unicom was established in July 1994.

  7. China Unicom sold its CDMA service to China Telecommunications Corporation (China Telecom) with 110 billion yuan.

  8. 3. The feature of Mobile Communications in China • The most distinct feature of Mobile Communications in China is that SMS is very popular. Many Chinese mobile users send SMS instead of call.

  9. 4 Mobile Phones as a New Medium • In China, the cell phone is known as the fifth media form, closely following newspapers, broadcast, TV, and the Internet.

  10. 5 The users of Mobile Communications • The total users number of mobile communications in China is nearly 0.7 billion.

  11. 6. The regulations for Mobile Communications • The laws and regulations are not perfect. The main regulations for Mobile Communications in China is PRC Telecommunications Regulations(2000 ) .

  12. The future • Third generation mobile technology (3G) indicated the future of Mobile Communications in China.
