  2. Mission Statement The mission of the Greater Mission Bend Area Council is to empower residents, businesses and organizations of the Greater Mission Bend Area by collectively addressing common issues and concerns.

  3. Vision We envision Mission Bend will be a vibrant, safe, and healthy community and through rebranding our community’s identity we will foster pride and attract new investments in the community

  4. What is the Business Improvement Initiative • Grassroots effort to stimulate the growth, expansion and revitalization of our business community that will result in public or private investments for purposes of developing more robust environments that will reinvigorate our community to once again become a good place to live, work andraise a family.

  5. Objective Act as a liasion between area businesses and people in the community to buildup our business district such that it will lead to new business creation, stimulate growth, and encourage new private or public investment Partner with area businesses, law enforcement, and people of the community to enhance, stabilize and revitalize the Mission Bend commercial district

  6. Our Role : Establish Business Partnerships • Assist business owners with strengthening and growing their business • Help identify and rehabilitate abandoned or underutilized commercial properties • Promote and enhance the quality of life in our neighborhoods • Help establish or maintain a positive business climate

  7. What We Want to Accomplish • Improve our commercial landscape • Establish a positive business climate for all residents of Mission Bend

Through our partnerships we hope to build community –wide public improvements of our commercial storefronts Partnership Improvement Initiatives Better Signage General Façade Repairs Awnings Trash Removal Maintenance Painting Fencing • Improved Exterior Lighting • Streetscape Enhancements • Graffiti Removal and Abatement • Public Nuisance Management • Parking Lot Maintenance • Sidewalk Repair

  11. Our Approach – 4 Steps • Create an Environment for Investment • Organize the Business Community • Develop a Promotion, Marketing & Advertising Campaign • Improve Businesses Physical Environments • Plan for Economic Development & Restructuring

Approach – Step 2 • Promote Revitalization • Challenges: • Funding • Develop a Promotion and Marketing Campaign for the “New” Mission Bend Business District • Create and sell a positive image of our redevelopment efforts that would encourage investors and the people of Mission Bend, our community is a place to live, work, play, and invest.

  14. Approach – Step 3 • Physical Improvements • Challenges: enhancing the physical appearance of the business district • Create an inviting atmosphere • Building improvements • Landscaping • Street Lighting • Ownership

Approach – Step 4 • Economic Development & Restructuring • Challenges: Resources to help with strengthening the existing business base while expanding and diversifying for new investment opportunities • Recruitment of new businesses • Increase competition • Authority to make use of unused or underused commercial properties
