  2. VGS Marketing Work Group • Marketing Workgroup • Investigate new approaches to address how ancillary services will be supplied for VG • Evaluate the impacts of REC markets • Investigate product codes used in scheduling of VG resources • Evaluate NAESB activities as appropriate

  3. MWG Issues/Activities •  How can market mechanisms assist in the supply and delivery of increased regulation, load following, and balancing requirements? • M1. Determine market based approaches to supplying regulation, load following, and balancing requirements and recommend WECC and Industry roles for supporting market based approaches.

  4. MWG Tasks • Track ongoing efforts to develop new market mechanisms and products. • Work with OWG, MIS and others to determine what products will be needed how they can effectively be procured and delivered?

  5. MWG Tasks • Determine need for a market impact study (or defer to other ongoing or existing market studies by NREL and others to develop strategies for accessing ancillary services). • Develop a white paper on market mechanisms with recommendations for new strategies and identify role of WECC and its members

  6. VGS Operating Work Group • Assess methodologies for determining reserve requirements to facilitate reliable integration of VG • Inventory VG performance standards and propose modifications where gaps exist • Investigate mechanisms for better utilizing resource flexibility • Inventory forecasting practices • Quantify the benefits of BA consolidation
