1. Glen Arden Elementary School 2013-2014 School Year The school counselor at Glen Arden is Mrs. Hensley.

2. Every child at Glen Arden is very special. Mrs. Hensley wants to get to know every child at our school.

3. What is a school counselor? When do I visit my school counselor?

4. A school counselor is a special teacher who talks to us about being a good friend to other children. A school counselor talks to us about being the best students we can be in our classrooms. A school counselor talks to us about careers we might want, and how we can prepare for a career.

5. My class will come to visit Mrs. Hensley regularly for classroom lessons. Sometimes children come to visit the school counselor in a small group. Sometimes a child may come to visit the school counselor alone to talk. I can tell my teacher if I need to talk to Mrs. Hensley.

6. Some children want to talk to Mrs. Hensley if their family is changing or if someone they love is sick.

7. Some children want to talk to Mrs. Hensley if they have problems getting along with other students in the classroom, on the playground or on the bus. Be sure to talk to your teacher if you have a problem and she will let Mrs. Hensley know that you want to talk with her.
