Project Context Los Angeles Areas not seeking Exemption Areas seeking Exemption Proposed Bus-only Lanes Data sources: American Community Survey 2005-2009 Estimates, ESRI LA MTA wesbite, Streetsblog LA. Skills used: inset map, attribute sub-sets selection (Project_Area was derived by querying Relevant_Cities for LA=N and exporting selection to a new layer), geoprocessing (Relevant_Cities was created by dissolving all features in placeply.shp where Relevance=NR) .

  3. Method of Analysis Data sources used: ACS Community Survey 2005-2009 Estimates. Skills used: buffering, boundary sub-sets selections (BW_blockgroups was created by selecting tracts that intersect Wilshire_Buff_Diss and exporting to shapefile; the same process was used to create CC_blockgroups and BOL_blockgroups), geoprocessing (Wilshire_Buff_Diss was created by dissolving all features where STATUS=BOL to create a single BOL feature)

Skills used: inset map, aggregate attribute fields (Pct_Nonwhite = (Pop_Latino+Pop_MultiNL+Pop_OtherRace+Pop_PactIsl+Pop_Asian+Pop_NatAm+Pop_Black)/Tot_Pop), geoprocessing (BW_blockgroups, CC_blockgroups and BOL_blockgroups all display data that resulted from joining their GEO_ FIPS fields with the FIPS field of ACS_blockgroups_FIPS.xls).
