  2. Goals of Engineering Education Engineers search for quicker, better, and less expensive ways to use forces and materials of nature to meet today´s challenges. Engineering students must become skilled in basic engineeringprinciples and practices, be trained to think analytically, learn how to communicate effectively and work in multidisciplinaryteams. IGIP International Society for Engineering Education http://www.igip.org

  3. New Competencies of Educators • Development competencies • Communication skills • Ethics • Teamwork • Evaluation management • Intercultural competencies IGIP International Society for Engineering Education http://www.igip.org

  4. Qualification Profile The qualification profile of an engineering educator is based on engineering qualification which was earned through a recognised and/or accredited engineering study followed by relevant professionalengineering experience and qualifications in engineering pedagogy acquired in a course of a comprehensive educational program for engineering educators. IGIP International Society for Engineering Education http://www.igip.org

  9. The IGIP accreditation process is organised by the International Monitoring Committee of IGIP. The accreditation criteria are: - organisation of the program - entrance requirements for applicants - skills/abilities of the graduates - engineering pedagogical curriculum - qualification of lecturers - institutional resources - quality control and feedback Accreditation Process IGIP International Society for Engineering Education http://www.igip.org

  10. IGIP has install a system of double-controlling for the accreditation process and the awarding of the Ing-Paed (IGIP)-Diploma: NMC (National Monitoring Committee): Is prepareing the Diploma-and (Re-) Accredition-Papers for the IMC (with referal); IMC (International Monitoring Committee): Is controlling the work of the NMC´s and will award the Diplomas and the (Re-) Accreditions. IMC and NMC IGIP International Society for Engineering Education http://www.igip.org

  11. Training Centers IGIP accredits training centers for International Engineering Educators, whose teaching matter conforms to IGIP's curriculum for engineering pedagogy. These 43 centers are located in • Europe (Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, The Netherlands, Poland, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Switzerland, Ukraine), • Asia (Russia and Kazakhstan) and • South America (Brazil). IGIP International Society for Engineering Education http://www.igip.org

  12. Re-accreditation A re-accreditation process has to be gone through every five years by any IGIP training center. The requirements and/or its changes are evaluated by the International Monitoring Committee. The latest accreditations were in 2006 for an institution in Krasnoyarsk, in 2007 for an institution in Stavropol and in Irkutsk, Russia. IGIP International Society for Engineering Education http://www.igip.org

  13. IGIP created an international register of engineering educators, which guarantees minimum standards in technical expertise and a well-balanced competence profile for engineering educators. Diplomas were given in Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, The Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Switzerland, Slovak Republic, NL, RO, S, Russia, Ukraine USA, and Uzbekistan. 14. Global Engineering Excellence IGIP guarantees that all types of universities and other cradles of engineers – worldwide - employ engineering educators with teaching competencies correlating to the needs of modern engineering. IGIP International Society for Engineering Education http://www.igip.org

  15. Activities • state-of-the-art courses on engineering education • facilitating the exchange of ideas and experience internationally • supporting the networking of experts in various fields of technical teaching • organizing conferences and seminars on engineering education topics • supporting research projects IGIP International Society for Engineering Education http://www.igip.org
