  2. Introduction Draughts is played on the same chequered board as chess and has been played in Europe since the end of the 1100s. It is similar to a game called Alquerque played in Ancient Egypt.

  3. Aim The aim is to capture all your opponents pieces or to immobilise them.(make them lose when you move and they cant) The board is placed with a white square on the right bottom corner and each side has 12 pieces which are placed on the dark squares

  4. Moving and capturing They can only move diagonally forward only cap but not backwards and they capture by leaping over the opponents piece and when a piece is captured it is removed off the board(jump means to leapor capture)

  5. Kings When a piece reaches the end of the board it becomes a king and can go both backwards and forwards. It s far more powerful than normal checkers.

  6. Conclusion With its simple moves you might think that draughts is a slow straightforward game. However, if you make one false move it can lead to instant disaster.
