  4. General Overview Satellite image – 21/01 • Tropical depression developed south of Fiji on 22/01/2012 • Situation continue for 4 days • Caused major flooding in the North, Central and Eastern division • Western Division being the worst affected

  5. Weather Forecast as at O800hrs- 26/12 25/12 - 9:30 satellite image • Continuous heavy rainfall expected • Severe flood warning remains in force for major rivers and low lying areas • Situations intensify during high tide at 6am and 8pm • Water level recedes during low tide

  8. 2. HIGHLIGHTS – West Division Ba Town • 35-40 percent of the towns with disruption of power supply • Roads and water supply severely damaged

  9. Highlights – cont... Rakiraki Market • Nadi, Ba and Rakiraki towns are underwater • Agricultural Sector among the worst affected as most of the farming areas are in low-lying areas • All schools still closed

  10. Life Line - Restoration • FEA restored power supply to some in affected areas in the West (11%) • Water supply – 90% has been restored in affected areas • Roads now accessible - 53% in the affected areas • Telecommunication – not affected (all mobile transmission continues)

  11. Highlights – Northern Division • Some access still closed • Water Supply restored • Electricity normalised

  12. Highlights – Central Division • Rewa River Water Level – receded • Serea/Sawani Road – opened • A number of roads, flats, crossings, bridges still underwater and closed • Dist EOCs Korovou/ Serua/Namosi stood down

  13. Highlights – Eastern Division • Jetty Causeway washed away at Cicia Island and Moala Island – closed • Tarukua-Cicia Depot Road closed • Daliconi Road (Vanuabalavu) washed away – closed

  14. 3.Major Relief Activities • Preliminary Damaged Reports on Agriculture received from the North • Initial Damage Assessment Western –planned to start today Thursday (26/01/12) • Medical intervention – ECs and flooded areas to be visited • Support agencies (NFA, Police, RFMF) for flood impacts cleaning up, relief rehab and reconstruction

Focus – next 5 – 15 days • Providing basic food Rations to Evacuation Centres in the West • Reconstruction of damaged infrastructure (roads and bridges) • Restoration on the basics needs of the people to the affected areas • Restoration of schools ,health services and basic essential services
