Whole Group Instruction: (Classroom Teacher, 30-45 minutes, homogeneous groups at each grade level) • Core Program Opening Routines • Core Program Strategy/Skill Lessons, Models, Guided Practice and Discussions (Phonemic Awareness/Phonics/High-Frequency Words/Comprehension/Vocabulary) • Core Program Literature (Teacher Read Alouds and Anthology Selections) • Instructional Small Groups (Classroom Teacher, 20-30 minutes, 4-15 homogeneous students/group): • Core or Intervention Strategy/Skill Work and Discussions • Core or Intervention Monitored and Coached Reading • Preview Lessons • Independent/Interactive Activities (parent volunteers--if we can get them, homogeneous groups): • Practice Pages, Reading Cards, Graphic Organizers • Fluency Building, Partner Reading • Skill Practice, Word Work, Challenge Projects

Instructional Focus Group: • Supplemental Phonemic Awareness/Phonics • Instructional Focus Group: • Supplemental Fluency • Instructional Focus Group: • Supplemental Comprehension • Instructional Focus Group: • Supplemental Language Support Instructional Focus Groups: Classroom Teachers meet with groups of students (strategic or high intensive) to double-dose in specific areas based on assessment information (inside and/or outside of 90-minute reading block, 10-15 minutes/group, constantly changing groups).

  6. Title 1 and Special Education Identified Students: Instructional Small Groups (Title 1 teacher or paraprofessional, 30-45 minutes outside of 90-minute reading block, 2-6 students/group). Intervention programs. ESL Students: Language Development Instructional Small Groups (ESL teacher or paraprofessional, 30 minutes inside the 90-minute reading block, 5-6 students/group). Core Program Pre-teaching and Re-teaching, Language for Learning/Thinking, Newcomers. Double Dose: Title 1 Identified Students receive “double dose” services when progress monitoring data shows the students are not making adequate progress (Title 1 teacher/para, 30 minutes outside of 90-minute reading block, 2-6 students/group).
