Backgrounder/Introduction The Canadian Stakeholder Steering Committee on Private Drug Plans • Multi-stakeholder group • “We need to learn about each others businesses” • Developing solutions in collaboration • Improving health outcomes for beneficiaries • Improving the plan member experience - examples • Resolving birthdate errors • Can’t adjudicate annual plan maximum • Special authorizations not online • It’s all about timing – committee will be re-established & restructured to meet the current economic & healthcare climate

Pharmacy Advisory Committee (PAC) • Purposes: Initiate the steps to create the Steering Committee, define activities, create the mandate, identify issues, and ensure representation • Representation: • Co-Chair – CPhA: Peter Zawadzki, Pharmasave National • Co-Chair – CACDS: Jeff May, Shoppers Drug Mart Ltd. • Provincial Pharmacy Association (PPA): Allison Bodnar (NS) • Provincial Pharmacy Association: Parkesh Ragsdale (BC) • Provincial Pharmacy Association and Independent Pharmacist: Janet McCutchon (ON) • Pharmacy Operations: Jim Beaumariage, Rexall • Former SSCPDP Member: Ruth Ackerman, MediResource • CPhA Staff Support – Jeff Morrison • CACDS Staff Support – Steve Wilton

Steering Committee (SSCPDP) • A strategic multi-stakeholder partnership • Provides strategic direction and accountability • Focuses on identifies issues, seeks collaboration, and develops constructive solutions • Representation to include: CACDS CPhA PPA Insurer Benefit Consultant Adjudicator Plan Sponsor Employee/ Patient Canadian Health and Life Insurance Association • First meeting, yet to be determined

  5. Pharmacy Operations Working Group • Mandate is to act as a bridge between pharmacy / pharmacists and the third party payer sector to enhance operational efficiencies and logistical processes • Issues can be identified by the Steering Committee, or the working group can develop tactics and/or solutions • Representation to include: CPhA CACDS, PPO Insurer Adjudicator Plan Sponsor CHLIA • Outcome: to enhance efficiencies that lower costs and improve the beneficiaries’ experience

  6. Enhanced Pharmacy Services Working Group • Mandate: to educate the private sector on the value and benefits of new services and to jointly advocate for publically funded enhanced pharmacy services leveraging the CPSF • Representation to include: CPhA CACDS PPO Insurer Adjudicator Benefits Consultant Plan Sponsor CHLIA Employee/Patient Provincial Gov’t (TBD) • Outcome: to ensure all beneficiaries/patients benefit for expanded pharmacy services

Work Plan and Next Steps • Follow up on Action Items from Sep. 7, 2011 meeting of the Pharmacy Advisory Committee • Issues identification for operations and enhanced services • Stakeholder surveys and engagement • PAC – next meeting Dec. 2011 to develop work plans • Establish the Steering Committee (SSCPDP) Feb 2012 • Identify and recruit private sector representatives as outlined • Set Meeting Date for SSCPDP Face-to-Face Meeting • Draft Terms of Reference, Mandate and Work Plan • Establish the Working Groups • Identify and recruit private sector representatives as outlined • Let the real work begin – develop constructive solutions
