    3. A winning Partnership for UCF Offers payroll deduction option for our employees All charities are screened by a steering committee in Tallahassee, offering both variety and security A workplace giving initiative encourages participation throughout the state, providing needed financial support that otherwise might not have been collected. People want to be involved in their world, they want to make a difference, and they want to participate in worthwile initiatives. Having a secure workplace giving option that allows payroll deduction makes supporting agencies in our community easy. Screening – Each agency is audited and screened by a committee in Tallahassee. To qualify, agencies must follow guidelines prescribed in Florida Administrative code (60L-39.004: Eligibility Criteria for Participation by Charitable Organizations). This means when we invite our colleagues to participate, we know that their dollars will be invested as the donor intends them to be. I’ll show you how to get to the eligibility criteria on our website in a little bit. FSECC is in it 31st year – and has raised over 84 million dollars. 6. What we do MATTERS Most of our donations are directed to charities that assist individuals in our local community The lives of many of our employees and their families have been directly touched by organizations supported in this campaign

    7. FSECC Administration The FSECC is governed by a statewide steering committee appointed by the governor, the cabinet, and the secretary of the Department of Management Services.

    8. FSECC Administration The State Steering Committee establishes a fiscal agent for each region The fiscal agent is responsible for the coordination of the campaign at individual worksites and receiving donations, reporting to Tallahassee, and dispersing donations.

    10. Our FSECC Our Role Be Informed: Know about the campaign and know how to find answers to employees’ questions INFORM: Provide employees with information and answer questions Receive and process pledge cards & donations for cash/check contributions and for employees without internet access 100% Education, not 100% participation. Our job is to make sure our employees have the opportunity to make an informed decision about participating.100% Education, not 100% participation. Our job is to make sure our employees have the opportunity to make an informed decision about participating.

    11. Our FSECC Department representatives educate their employees about the campaign and encourage (but never coerce) participation. Giving is always voluntary.

    12. Our FSECC Some of the things we all do: Greet everyone face-to-face Ask for increased contributions Hold fundraising events Encourage gifts of all sizes Return calls and emails promptly

    13. Our FSECC Make a second attempt at a face to face contact rather than leaving a note. People are more comfortable with the process when they know you personally. People are much more likely to donate money if they receive a personal request from someone they have met.

    14. Our FSECC Make sure that every employee at the university can make an informed decision about giving. Your influence and attitude could mean the difference between an increased donation and a lost donation. And every dollar makes a difference.

    15. Why Donate? Charitable organizations help everyone and they need our contributions in order to continue supporting the community around us.

    16. Why donate to FSECC? Giving to the FSECC supports UCF’s charitable efforts. Having a workplace giving program encourages increased community contributions. The FSECC raises over 4 million dollars each year statewide.

    17. Designating Donations We can designate our contributions Individual agency Federation County Undesignated Funds

    18. Designating Donations Undesignated funds are dispersed by a steering committee. By designating funds, employees maintain control over how their money is used. We can designate our donations to an individual agency, a Federation, a county outside of our region, or leave our contribution undesignated. We can designate our donations to an individual agency, a Federation, a county outside of our region, or leave our contribution undesignated.

    19. Undesignated Funds Tier 1 Distributed, according to Florida law, to all agencies providing local services predicated on the percentages of designated funds they received in the campaign for the year Tier 2 Distributed by local steering committee
