  4. Beluga Whales Issues • Collisions • Changes in abundance • Disturbances by ships and barges • Experience in Inuvialuit Settlement Region and elsewhere with Beluga Whales and shipping • react to fast and erratic movements • reactions strongest when whales feel trapped

Beluga Whales and Other Marine Mammals Mitigation • Community monitor onboard ships • Watch for whales: • Straight course, constant speed • Slow vessel • Stop and idle • Provide report on observations • Given experience in Mackenzie Delta, conclude no significant effects on whale distributions or abundance
