  1. Inventory System Upgrade Proposal AlexaSpigelmyer, Mary Jo Kennedy, Ethan Cox Team1

  2. Project Overview Our project was to determine a way to perform a series of technical upgrades, and to integrate an inventory tracking module with the accounting and manufacturing software used currently at Transducer Works.

  3. Technical Upgrades The first upgrade will be to replace 5 workstations with touch capable monitors. These monitors will free up desk space normally needed for a mouse, and allow technicians to quickly browse around workstation machines. The second upgrade will be to place a USB barcode scanner on each workstation. These barcode scanners will vastly speed up locating the specifics for each build. A scan will quickly access a database of products and pull up the proper build instructions, including progress and current step in production.

  4. Software Upgrades Transducer Works currently uses an accounting and inventory tracking software suite, MiSys. This software, with the addition of a few modules, can be used to accomplish all of the software-side goals of this project.

  5. The MiSys Manufacturing and Accounting Software

  6. Cost Estimates Hardware upgrades for five workstations: Monitors: $400/unit Scanners: $60/unit Wage for Team1: The hourly wage for our team is $15/hr for technicians (2X) $20/hr team leader/consultant The overall project is estimated to take +-320 clock hours

  7. Risks Time: Because of all the extensive software and hardware work, the risk of getting off schedule due to installation or software errors Hardware: Touch screen monitors have about a 2-3 year lifespan, which is faster than normal screens, and can happen without warning

  8. Benefits Traceability: By having all your products scanned along each phase of production, you can track the time of overall production or individual phases. Speed: By knowing what spots are your “hang-ups”, the build process can be streamlined and refined, to maximize productivity .

  9. Overall Project Schedule Phase One: Establish overall scope of project Phase Two: Purchase hardware Phase Three: Install and set up all physical elements Phase Four: Install and set up all software elements Phase Five: Final Testing

  10. Implementing System Once system is installed, having employees learn how to effectively use this new technology is key. Our system is designed to be easy to use, and quick to learn. For any issues, concerns or breakdowns, Team1 is available for phone support, or an on-site visit if needed.
