Fee-for-Departure MEC Working Group • 14 ALPA-represented FFDC pilot groups met • FFDC MEC Summit—March 2008, St. Louis, MO • Pilots’ goals, job stability & migration, and contract harmonization • Mutual assistance in a consolidating environment • The impact of airline consolidation • Case studies of pilot groups’ collaborative efforts

  13. Fee-for-Departure MEC Working Group • FFDC MEC Strategic Planning Meeting—April 2008, Herndon, VA • Discussed and gave input to draft strategic plan • Outlined near-term and long-term goals • Devised a work plan • Began plan implementation

Fee-for-Departure MEC Strategic Goals • Facilitate transportability of jobs • Remove incentive to shift flying due to pilot costs • Ensure a standard of living and quality of life independent from the success of any individual carrier • Stabilize the career path for as many pilots as possible

Fee-for-Departure MEC Strategic Goals • Create an allegiance to our union greater than the allegiance to any individual carrier • Foster an allegiance to the profession • Capitalize on ALPA’s prominence to provide a support foundation for fellow members facing vulnerabilities • Establish FFDC coalitions and domestic alliances in support of the above objectives
