  2. Objectives of the workshop • To provide an update of on-going and a discussion on planned work by EEA, European Commission, other organisations and member countries in the field of ‘Climate Change Impacts, Vulnerability and Adaptation’

  5. 2013 some other key activities • First "Open European Day" and "EU Cities Adapt" final conference,, 3 June 2013, Bonn • Workshop on climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation in West Balkan countries, 22-23 April 2013, Belgrade, Serbia Adaptation to climate change in the transport sector: Expert meeting, 23 May, EEA, Copenhagen and survey to EEA member countries (NRCs on transport), deadline 20 June 2013

MAWP 2014-2018 • Updated information and improvement of Climate-ADAPT (ongoing) • Assessment report on climate change impacts (indicators) in 2016 (and annually selected indicators on the web) • Assessment report on ‘Analysis of national and sub-national adaptation policies’ based on 2013 self-assessment (in 2014); follow-up of 2013 report on adaptation in Europe based on needs • Other assessments: • Contribute to SOER2015 • Urban adaptation (follow-up of 2012 report, regular conference with ICLEI) • Impacts of natural hazards (follow-up of 2011 report) • Transport systems and adaptation (new) • Networking with and support to member countries, including annual EIONET workshop (also EPA interest group) • Participate in and contribute to EU activities within UN meetings and networks on climate change and disaster risk reduction (UNFCCC, IPCC, ISDR Europe, WHO Europe) • ETC CCA selection

Next steps (2013) • EEA Management board 26 June • Draft MAWP and AMP2014 to be sent to Management Board (countries, Commission) for consultation: 12 July • Including comments: Sep • Opinion European Commission and Scientific Committee: Oct • Adoption at Management Board: Nov • ETCs implementation plans: end 2013, to start 1 Jan 2014
