Current space-based data for forest management • ThirdNationalForestInventory (2007, AntónioMarzoli): LULC Mapfortwoprovinces Maputo and Manica (1:250,000) basedon Landsat-5 TM (2004), and LULC Map at NationalLevel (1:1,000,000) based on Lansat-5 TM (2004, 2005). • ZoneamientoAgroecológico Nacional (Ministério da Agricultura, 2010-2014): LULC Maps (1:250,000) based on Landsat-5 TM (2008-2010). New space-based data planned AD-FREL/FRL • JICA in collaborationwith DIRN (MITADER) isdeveloping a national (provincebyprovince) 2012(/2013) LULC MapbasedonLandsatImagery (lastpoint in time forthehistoricalanalysis of theemmissions). JICA/DIRN • AD Analysis to establishthe FREL/FRL: ForestCoverChangesMap(Landsat: 2005/2010/2012): Resultof applying a supervised classification routine to perform forest/non - forest change detection within the Google Earth Engine API(using Collect Earth Tool to establish the training dataset).MRV-Unit (MITADER).   4. New space-based data planned National Forest Monitoring System • UpdatedLULC Mapbasedon Sentinel-2 imagery (2015, 2016). StartingpointforForestMonitoringpurposes (LULC map to be updatedevery 5 years; a basisfor NFI updating). MRV-Unit (MITADER). Col. ESA, WB. • AD Analysisformonitoringpurposes: Forest Cover Changes Map (Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-1 imagery): Result of applying a supervised classification routine to perform forest/non - forest change detection, every two years.   5. New space-based data planned National Forest Monitoring System • National Forest Inventory. DIRN with consultancy companies will implement the NFI using FCPF CF additional funds with a national design approach (e.g. 8 strata / 196 units (CV70%, E10%) =1600 units x 600 USD= 960.000 USD ). • Otherprojects/programs. ERsprograms in Zambezia and Cabo Delgado. Callforresearchproposalsto improve biomass estimates and Identify potential technologies to detect forest degradation. SDCG-9 Frascati, Italy February 2016
