  4. Purpose • to provide data on uranium occurrences, mines, and mills in New Mexico • to federal, state, and local agencies, public organizations, private industry, and individual citizens

  5. Purpose — continued • to make informed decisions about • resource development and management, • water supplies, • land use, • environmental impacts, • natural hazard assessment, and • waste disposal.

  6. AVAILABLE DATA • Location (= GIS, point and polygon data), • Production, reserves, resource potential • Geologic, • Geochemical (rock, water, ect.), • Well data, • Historical and recent photographs, • Mining methods, maps, • Ownership, and • Other data.

  7. SHORT TERM GOALS • Continue adding data to the database from NMBGMR files • Add detailed production data to the database • Add historic uranium photos to the database • Add polygon data showing extent of uranium deposits in GIS format • Add new geochemical data

  8. LONG TERM GOALS • Combine this database with the mines database and put on the NMBGMR WEB page (1-2 years) • Provide a mechanism such that when new data, especially geochemical, is acquired, the database is easily updated • Add additional types of data • Maintain quality control of the data
