  3. RURAL ICT • Goal of Rural ICT project: • To provide a low power technology solution ( ICT) to each branch Postmaster • To enable all the 1,30,000 BOs to improve the level of service being offered to rural customers

  4. Rural ICT • Objective • Improve quality of service • Provide value addition- ATM, mobile banking etc • Financial inclusion of weaker sections • Routing of social welfare schemes through post offices • Improve revenue generation • Coverage: 1,30,000 BOs

Future Plan • Utilize the Rural BO’s to • To achieve financial inclusion of Un-banked Rural Population • To disburse social security schemes such as MGNREGA, Pension Payments • To improve the quality of service offered to the rural population • To increase revenue by providing retail services, third party services etc • What are the hurdles????

Rural ICT Project for NREGS wages disbursement in A.P Circle • Agreement between Andhra Pradesh state government, post office & a private company AP Online • Pilot in 3 districts of Andhra Pradesh Circle • Using hand held devices at the Post office • Biometric authentication- Finger prints, eye ball etc • Reduces manual record keeping • Required reports/documents can be printed out easily

  10. Future course of action • Rs 2500 crore project • Processing going on in Postal Directorate • Identification of service providers will be done • Project implemented within the next few years
