  2. ACEHP Vision and Mission Statement Alliance VisionThe Alliance is a recognized leader and trusted partner that exists to close gaps in health care performance by translating the best science and knowledge into effective continuing professional development. Alliance MissionThe Alliance is a community of professionals dedicated to accelerating excellence in health care performance through education, advocacy, and collaboration.

  3. Background • Founded in 1975 as the Alliance for Continuing Medical Educaton • In 2011, the Alliance for Continuing Medical Education became the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions • The change was made to “more closely align the Alliance with the medical profession’s shift toward a more collaborative and team-based system of care.” (Pelletier, S. (December 1, 2011). It’s Official: Alliance for CME Has New Name. Retrieved from http://meetingsnet.com)

  4. Current Topics • Recently expanded their advocacy efforts on behalf of their membership • One of the biggest issues facing in CME is the Sunshine Act. While CME is mostly exempt from the requirements, there are a few areas of concern for providers. The ACEHP is working to help members understand the implications to the field. • Working to inform the public and patients of the benefits and value of continuing professional education • Helping members understand Maintenance of Certification, Maintenance of Licensure and Osteopathic Continuous Certification Advance so they can better serve their constituents • Helping members better understand healthcare reform • Helping members understand the concept of interprofessional education

  5. Conferences Annual Conference: This is their largest meeting comprised of general sessions with keynote speakers and smaller educational breakouts organized by tracks and by competencies. Typically takes place in January. IACE Summit: Brings together stakeholders from pharma and device companies, medical specialty societies, academic centers, medical education companies and the government to find common ground and discuss current issues. Takes place in the Spring.

Medical Specialty Society Summer Meeting: More informal discussion about key issues facing members belonging to medical specialty societies. Typically takes place in July/August.
