  3. About Brocagh • Brocagh means badger Warren. • Its on The western shore of Lough Neagh. • About 7 kilometres east of Coalisland. • Lies within Dungannon and South TyroneBorough Council. • The village consists mostly of single dwellings and farm buildings.

  4. Castle • The castle is situated in the village of Brocagh. It was built by Lord Mountjoy in 1602 and partly burned in 1643.

  5. Lord Mountjoy • In 1600 he went to lreland as Lord deputy in succession to Essex. With Sir George Carew, brought the nine years war to an end. He defeated O’neills (2nd Earl of Tyrone) Spanish allies and drove them out of the country.

  6. Mother Angeline Teresa • Mother Angeline Teresa’s real name is Bridget Teresa Mc Crory. • She was born in January 21st 1893, in Brocagh. • At the age of nineteen she left home to become a little star of the poor.

  7. Belville House • The house was haunted by the ghost of its owners, a Lady Morris, who hanged herself in the house in the seventeenth century. Lady Morris’ ghost stalked the house until a priest put her spirit into a bottle, which is now built into the attic of the house.

  8. Ducking stool point • A long time ago some people were suspected of being witches or having magical powers so they were threw in to the Lough. If they floated they would be put to death for having magical powers, but if they sank they probably drowned so they died anyway.
