  2. History & Story behind its name Opened over 40 years ago with only 10 people working for it, Goldilocks Bakeshop and Food shop's simple vision of producing high quality, high value products at affordable prices helped turn it from a small neighborhood goodie shop to a multibillion peso international conglomerate with more than 3,500 employees.

  3. Goldilocks traces its roots to the collaboration and complementary talents of the women, whose collective love for good food fueled what has been transformed into the global enterprise today. • In 1996, two sisters Milagros and Clarita, and their sister-in-law, Doris, decided to open a small bakeshop along to the Pasong Tamo Street, Makati. The sisters have already been dabbling in the business for sometime – Milagros, by supplying chiffon slices to a number of Manila’s canteens, and Clarita, by baking and decorating cakes during special occasions in Bicol – when they decided to take their hobby one step further. A third sister, Maria Flor, suggested that they name the enterprise “Goldilocks”, after the character in a fairy tale, aiming to make it easier for children and their mothers to remember its name; and because it suggested luck and propsperity. • Over the years, Goldilocks did prosper, but not due to mere luck. The sister’s dedication, hard work and business sensibilities led to a second branch just two years after the pioneering outlet began operating.

  4. Originally opened as a Magnolia Ice Cream parlor at Cubao in 1975, the name was originally called Jolibe. In 1978, the business focus shifted from ice cream to hamburgers. Jollibee studies showed a much larger market was waiting to get tapped. Lumba became Tony Tan's first business and management mentor. After changing the name to Jollibee, the Jollibee mascot was nspired by local and foreign children's books. Developed by a management consultant named, Manuel C. Lumba working for Tony Tan Caktiong next created the product name "Yumburger" as well as the name "Chickenjoy". Later Tony Tony made Manny Lumpa in charge of developing the franchise. The stores were re-designed, the service transformed into a full self-service, fast food operation with drive thrus. The first headquarters was located on Main St. in Cubao, Quezon City. Lumba developed a long-term marketing strategy, listing up a number of consumer promotions and traffic building schemes while maintaining internal strengths required by Tony Tan.

  5. Story behind its name • Tony decided to add an offering in the business by introducing hamburgers. And soon added french fries and fried chicken because customers were telling them that they did not want to eat ice cream all the time. As they offer the new menu, they noticed that people were lining up more for hamburgers than for ice cream. Their hamburger offering turned out to be the best seller. By then, they decided to shift into a hamburger house from an ice cream parlor. That was when they also thought of having a name for their hamburger house. They were thinking for a symbol that would represent the group, and because it was said that Tony was very impressed with Disneyland characters, they decided on a bee. Also, Tony wanted an image of a restaurant with employees working all over the place like busy-bees and where customers in turn 'joyfully' take their meals. They used the word jolly and changed “y” into “i” to form JOLLIBEE.

  6. The company was founded in July, 2000. It became a public company on 6 March 2003. BreadTalkoutlets feature a "see-through" kitchens, often located next to or within the retail outlet, separated from the main retail space by transparent glasspanes, allowing the public to view the kitchens. The rationale for doing this was that it would promote confidence in their hygiene quality and food standards.

  7. The company’s principal subsidiary, BreadTalkPte Ltd, is a private limited company incorporated in Singapore under the Companies Act on 24 April 2000. It was founded by Dr. George Quek and Katherine Lee. Dr. George Quek, first conceptualised "BreadTalk" in April 2000 when he saw an opportunity for starting a bakery selling freshly baked breads and buns which are visually creative and attractive. The first BreadTalk retail outlet commenced business on 1 July 2000 at Parco Bugis Junction. BreadTalk opened its second retail outlet within five months of their first retail outlet in December 2000 at Novena Square. Their first retail outlet situated in the HDB heartlands was also opened in December 2000 at Junction 8 Shopping Centre. In 2001, they expanded their operations by opening another five retail outlets. When they first commenced operations, the whole baking process, from the preparation of the dough to the final topping of the bakery items, was done at each individual retail outlet. As their operations continued to grow, and in preparation for their franchising plans, they set up their central kitchen and shifted their corporate headquarters to their present premises at KA FoodLink, Kampong Ampat in September 2001. To expand their production capacity, they acquired more space, machinery and equipment in 2002. The expansion of their central kitchen was completed by November 2002. Over the last two years, they have introduced many new varieties of breads, buns, cakes and pastries and they presently have launched more than 100 bakery items.

  8. a chain that retails fast food, primarily pizza. Founded in 2001, the chain operates in the Philippines, the United States, Guam, Malaysia and Qatar. • The innovative casual restaurant, known for great pizza with generous portions of toppings made with only the freshest ingredients, is now offering pizza lovers a healthier alternative to their usual choices -the Dear Darla Pizza a thin-crust pizza rolled with alfalfa sprouts and arugula leaves. • Because of having "yellow cab" in its name, many thought of the company as a taxi business. But the name is actually a reference to the way it frequently uses the colors black and yellow, a pattern seen on taxi cars. While much of the ingredients to their pizzas come from the Philippines, the cheese is purchased from either Australia or New Zealand. The company's delivery service uses Vespa scooters. • In addition, Yellow Cab operates a sister restaurant called Army Navy Burger Burrito, which specializes in hamburgers and burritos with a military motif. Some branches of Army Navy are designed to resemble a Quonset hut.

  9. Yellow Cab Pizza is a chain of American-style pizzerias with several branches in Cebu. The name Yellow Cab is inspired by the famous yellow taxis of New York City and many of the pizzas have New York themes.
